I just have to write, you do to
Truly crippled in the state often known as "paralysis by analysis" I have faltered on keeping up with my writing more than most I know. I started taking this approach that I needed these long form, well researched writings before I can hit post but I don't think that's the case (most of the time). I would labor on pulling data, planning (so much planning), and then diving in to only lose steam or trash the whole thing stating it wasn't good enough (for who?!).
So I'm tearing the entire approach down. Salt it down like Gomorrah. It doesn't matter right now on how long, or good, or interesting these views are. No one is going to see them! That's totally fine as it's the process of logging in, putting words on the page, and getting things out there.
This starts, I think, with determining intent. For me, I'm trying to set out to shift from passive hobbies to active creation hobbies, which means I need to create something.
Now, is there another goal around that creation? I don't know yet, I think it's too early to even worry about that but it is telling when perusing trending. Often times upvoted posts aren't these long form deep dives but they are smart, quick, introspective, and hard hitting insights.
Which further points to just putting things out there and possibly people will resonate with them regardless of size, depth, or breadth. Which is a good thing and that realization has helped this paralysis of holding so many drafts from hitting publish.
Even right now I'm kicking myself that I didn't go out and get data around writing trends or grab top popularity word counts but that's a me problem that halts myself from every hitting publish. No one is grading or judging these writings (at least to my acknowledgement) and I have to let it go.
I think ultimately getting words on a page are the most important part to start and then over time working to refine those thoughts, word choices, and find that voice or area you are interested in and want to focus on. So I'm going to attempt to push towards actively getting my thoughts out in a more public manner and hoping to see themes or interests on where this journey is taking me.
